*Hyderabad, September 19, 2024:* Former minister and BRS MLA Harish Rao launched a scathing attack on the Congress government in Telangana, accusing it of betraying farmers by failing to implement promised loan waivers. Taking to his official X account, Harish criticized the ruling party for its inaction, which he said has driven farmers to despair. In a blistering post, Harish expressed outrage over the government’s response to the *Chalo Praja Bhavan* protest, organized by farmers demanding the long-overdue loan waivers. “The Congress government was shaken when all the farmers united and called for Chalo Praja Bhavan. Instead of addressing their concerns, they resorted to the undemocratic act of arresting farmers and leaders of farmers’ associations across the state,” Harish wrote.Harish condemned the arrest of protesting farmers, calling it a “heinous act.” He further demanded the immediate and unconditional release of all farmers detained during the protests. *Harish Rao’s Post:*”What happened to Revanth Reddy’s tall claims of a ‘government without restrictions,’ a ‘government without fences,’ and ‘public governance’? Why are there so many barricades and restrictions around Praja Bhavan now? Why is the Chief Minister so afraid of farmers flocking to Praja Bhavan?”Harish Rao also accused CM Revanth Reddy of making false promises, particularly regarding the waiver of loans up to Rs. 2 lakhs for all farmers. “Revanth Reddy, the promise you made to waive off the loans will become the noose around your neck and your government. The BRS party will not rest until this promise is fulfilled. The farmers of Telangana will not leave you,” he declared. He went on to issue a dire warning to the Congress government, recalling a historical metaphor: “A kingdom where a farmer cried, a kingdom where an ox cried, has never prospered in history.” The post was tagged to the official handle of the Telangana Chief Minister’s Office (@TelanganaCMO), ensuring that the message reached the state’s top leadership. As the farmers’ protests continue to gain momentum across Telangana, Harish Rao’s statement reflects the growing frustration within the BRS party and among farmers who feel abandoned by the Congress government. The opposition has vowed to stand by the farmers until their demands are met, further intensifying the political tensions in the state.
