*Hyderabad, August 29* — Post-graduate students at Nizamia Tibbi Hospital have gone on strike, demanding the release of stipends that have been overdue for seven months. The students, represented by Dr. Mohammed Junaid of the Unani Students Association, expressed frustration over the prolonged delay and lack of response from authorities.Dr. Junaid highlighted that stipends, which were previously credited every three months, have not been paid for a significant period. He noted that while the stipend amount was ₹23,000 per month in 2016, it has remained unchanged since then, despite increasing living costs. In January this year, the High Court directed that stipends be paid within three months. However, this directive has not been followed. As a result, the union has filed a contempt case with the Supreme Court, with the matter scheduled for a hearing in November. The students had also submitted a representation to Telangana Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha and the Telangana Health Secretary, but received no response. The strike followed these unsuccessful appeals. The Principal of Nizamia Tibbi Hospital has requested a week to address the issue. The students have agreed to wait for this period, but have warned that if the problem remains unresolved, they will escalate to an indefinite strike.
