Indian Women Wrestlers Triumph at U17 World Championships in Amman

*Amman, Jordan: August 23* – Indian women wrestlers delivered an outstanding performance at the U17 World Wrestling Championships, clinching the team title with a record-breaking eight medals. The event concluded on Friday with India securing a total of five golds, one silver, and two bronze medals, amassing 185 points. This impressive tally propelled them ahead of Japan, which finished with 146 points from one gold, four silvers, and one bronze.This is a historic achievement for India, marking their first-ever team title in U17 women’s wrestling after coming close in previous editions.Raj Bala added to India’s medal haul by winning bronze in the 40kg category, overcoming Umekawa of Japan with a score of 11-5. Muskan also secured a bronze, triumphing over Isabella Gonzales of the USA in the 53kg category.In the 69kg category, Kajal claimed gold by defeating Oleksandra of Ukraine with a score of 9-2. This gold, along with the four gold medals won on Thursday, underscored India’s dominance in the event.Shrutika Patil, in the 46kg category, settled for silver after a 40-second bout ended in a 0-12 loss to Tuu Katsume of Japan. Rajnita faced disappointment in the 61kg category, losing by fall to Hurbanova of Azerbaijan in the bronze medal match.The championships also saw significant wins in the Greco-Roman category, with Ronak Dahiya and Sainath Pardhi earning bronze medals. Overall, India concluded the tournament with a total of 10 medals, showcasing their strength and potential on the global stage.
