Ongoing Kaleswaram Commission Inquiry Reveals New Insights

*Hyderabad, August 27:* The Justice PC Chandraghosh Commission, established by the Telangana government to investigate corruption, irregularities, and quality defects in the Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation Project, is continuing its proceedings. Key revelations emerged from recent testimonies by engineers involved in the project.Engineer Satyanarayana Reddy testified that the collapse of the Medigadda project was attributed to various issues beneath the raft, including problems related to second files and allotment deviations. He also admitted that modifications to the Annaram garage were made after the initial design approval. However, Engineer Dayakar Reddy faced scrutiny for providing an unclear response to a letter from the Ramagundam EC. The commission was informed that CDO officials were part of the High Power Committee and that site visits should precede design finalization. Officials noted that the location of the Annaram Sundilla barrages had been altered, although engineers clarified that the Medigadda location had remained unchanged.Engineers stated that separate designs prepared by CDO-L&T were submitted collectively for final approval and maintained that there were no design issues with the three barrages, asserting compliance with regulations. In a separate development, former Water Resources Development Corporation Chairman V. Prakash addressed the media at BRK Bhavan, criticizing figures Raghu and Vedhir Sriram for misrepresenting CWC issues. He asserted that the Kaleswaram project was intended to irrigate 37 lakh acres and provided an affidavit detailing objections to the construction of the Tummidihatti barrage. Prakash emphasized that the Commission aims to ensure that the true culprits are held accountable. The Commission has indicated that further hearings will be conducted after reviewing the submitted affidavit.
