Tathikunta Village Faces Severe Water Shortage Despite Ongoing Rains; Residents Plead for Immediate Action

**Tathikunta Village, Jogulamba Gadwala District, 2nd September 2024:** Residents of Tathikunta village in Maldhakal mandal are grappling with a severe water shortage that has persisted for the past week, even as heavy rains continue to lash the region. Villagers are forced to stand in long lines for up to 30 minutes to access water, highlighting the acute nature of the crisis. The water shortage has been exacerbated by the malfunctioning of local water supply motors, which have reportedly been out of service for a week. Despite the growing distress among villagers, government officials have yet to address the problem, leaving the community without a reliable source of drinking water.“We have been struggling for water, standing in lines for hours every day. Despite the rains, we are not getting any relief because the motors have burned out, and no one from the government has come to fix them,” said a local resident, expressing frustration over the lack of response from the authorities. The villagers are urgently appealing to government officials to take immediate action to repair the motors and restore regular water supply to the area. The lack of access to water has created additional hardship for the residents, many of whom rely on agriculture and daily labor for their livelihoods.
