Telangana ACB Raids Mining Officer Jayaraj’s Premises, Assets Worth Over ₹3.06 Crore Identified
Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a disproportionate assets case against Bojja Jayaraj, an Assistant Director in the Mines and Geology Department. The case has triggered a major probe into his alleged accumulation of assets beyond his known sources of income.
ACB officials conducted searches at eight locations linked to Jayaraj, his relatives and associates. The searches covered locations in and around Hyderabad, Bhupalpally, Warangal and other parts of Telangana.
Officials said assets with a documented value of ₹3,06,53,177 have been identified so far. The market value of some immovable properties could be higher than their registered document value.
What did the ACB find?
The searches reportedly uncovered several properties, financial investments, cash, gold and vehicles.
Among the assets identified are:
- A G+2 building in Boduppal valued at around ₹40 lakh.
- A flat in KPHB Colony valued at approximately ₹32.81 lakh.
- Five plots located in Keesara, Thungathurthi, Toopran and Suryapet.
- Around 3.21 acres of agricultural land.
- Cash amounting to ₹10.03 lakh.
- Savings of about ₹19.86 lakh in LIC and Max Life accounts.
- Three cars and two motorcycles, together valued at nearly ₹40 lakh.
- Around ₹20.86 lakh in post office savings.
- 629 grams of gold jewellery, valued at approximately ₹37.23 lakh.
- Household articles valued at about ₹10.67 lakh.
- Balances of nearly ₹71.27 lakh in three bank accounts.
The ACB is continuing to verify the ownership and source of the properties and financial assets.
Driver’s bank transactions under ACB scanner
The investigation has also brought the bank account of Jayaraj’s driver, Sattunuri Yadaiah, under scrutiny.
According to ACB findings reported in connection with the searches, around ₹24.80 lakh was transferred in multiple transactions from the driver’s account to an account belonging to Jayaraj’s daughter.
The driver reportedly told investigators that money was collected from people involved in sand transportation and related activities before being transferred.
The ACB is now examining the source, nature and purpose of the ₹24.80 lakh transactions. Investigators are also checking whether the transactions have any connection with alleged illegal collections.
ACB examines possibility of more assets
The agency is also checking whether Jayaraj has additional properties or financial interests that were not immediately identified during the searches.
Officials are reportedly examining bank transactions, property documents and possible links involving other individuals.
The valuation of the properties is another key aspect of the investigation. The ₹3.06 crore figure refers to the value identified in documents so far. The actual market value of some properties may be considerably higher.
Jayaraj taken into custody
Reports said ACB officials took Jayaraj into custody following the searches. He was expected to be produced before the Warangal ACB Court as the investigation progressed.
The case has been registered under Sections 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The ACB investigation is continuing, and further details are expected as officials verify the assets and financial transactions.
