R.S. Praveen Kumar Questions BJP Leaders’ Silence Over Bandi Bhagirath POCSO Case
Hyderabad: BRS leader R.S. Praveen Kumar has raised a series of questions over the handling of the POCSO case involving Bandi Sai Bhagirath, son of Union Minister and BJP leader Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
Praveen Kumar alleged that a minor girl and her family approached the Petbasheerabad Police Station with a complaint against Bhagirath.
He questioned why senior BJP leaders did not demand accountability at the time.
The BRS leader specifically questioned BJP leader Ramchander Rao over his response to the case.
“Why did Ramchander Rao not demand Bandi Sanjay’s resignation?” Praveen Kumar asked.
He also questioned why BJP women leaders did not publicly stand with the minor girl and her family.
Praveen Kumar Questions Government’s Handling of Case
Praveen Kumar alleged that efforts were made to weaken the case.
He claimed that the BRS fought strongly over the issue and sought justice for the minor girl.
He further questioned why no action was taken against Bandi Sanjay over alleged threats mentioned by the girl.
Praveen Kumar also alleged that the girl’s family claimed they were threatened by BJP spokesperson Sangappa.
He asked why action was not taken against him over those allegations.
“Why were no steps taken despite the family alleging threats?” Praveen Kumar questioned.
What Is Known About the Bandi Bhagirath Case?
The case was registered at Petbasheerabad Police Station following a complaint by the minor’s mother.
According to police, the case involved allegations of sexual assault against a minor.
Cyberabad Police subsequently invoked additional charges against Bandi Bhagirath.
Police also recorded the statement of the minor and her parents before a magistrate, according to reports.
The accused was arrested and remanded in judicial custody in May 2026.
The police had earlier formed special teams to trace him after he was reported to have been absconding.
The case has also generated a political controversy involving the BRS, BJP and the Telangana government.

Praveen Kumar’s latest remarks have brought the case back into the political spotlight.
He accused BJP leaders of remaining silent when the allegations first emerged.
He also questioned the political criticism directed at the BRS over its stand on the matter.
