Telangana Health Minister Reviews Government, Private IVF Centres
Hyderabad: Telangana Health Minister C. Damodar Rajanarsimha on Monday reviewed the functioning of government and private IVF centres in the state.
The meeting was held at the Telangana Secretariat in Hyderabad. Officials discussed the performance of IVF services and the need to strengthen fertility care.
A key focus was the regulation of private IVF centres. The minister also reviewed plans to expand IVF services in government healthcare facilities.
The review comes amid efforts to improve access to fertility treatment through the public healthcare system. The state government is also looking at better oversight of private fertility centres.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Christina Z. Chongthu, Health and Family Welfare Commissioner Sangeetha Satyanarayana, Public Health Director Dr Ravinder Naik, IVF Nodal Officer Dr Sumitra, and other senior officials.
Officials reviewed the existing IVF services and discussed measures for their further development. The expansion of government IVF facilities could help more couples access assisted reproductive services.
Telangana has been strengthening its healthcare infrastructure and regulatory systems. The Clinical Establishments framework provides for registration and regulation of clinical establishments, including services in the private sector.
The state has also been maintaining records of registered assisted reproductive technology facilities. This includes ART clinics and ART banks operating across Telangana.
The latest review is expected to guide further decisions on IVF centre regulation, government fertility services and reproductive healthcare in Telangana.
