‘Do I Have No Ethics?’ Padi Kaushik Reddy Hits Back at Kadiyam Srihari
Hyderabad: BRS Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy has hit back at Congress MLA Kadiyam Srihari over the complaint and Ethics Committee proceedings against him.
Kaushik Reddy questioned the basis of the complaint and defended his remarks made during the Assembly proceedings.
“Do I have no ethics? Does Kadiyam Srihari, who filed a petition against me, have ethics?” Kaushik Reddy asked.
He also questioned whether it was wrong to ask Srihari which political party he belonged to.
“Is it wrong to ask which party you are in?” the BRS MLA said.
Kaushik Reddy further questioned the political conduct of leaders who changed parties.
“If a party is going through difficult times, do those of us fighting here have ethics? Or do those who have sold themselves have ethics?” he said, taking a sharp dig at his political opponents.
Ethics Committee Takes Up Kaushik Reddy Case
The remarks come amid an ongoing controversy over Kaushik Reddy’s conduct towards Kadiyam Srihari in the Telangana Assembly.
The Assembly Ethics Committee was scheduled to examine the issue on August 29. The matter relates to an incident during a heated Assembly debate earlier this year.
Reports said Kaushik Reddy had questioned Srihari about his political affiliation while Srihari was speaking during the debate.
The issue was subsequently referred to the Ethics Committee by Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar. The committee is expected to examine the allegations and recommend any action under the applicable Assembly rules.
The controversy has also widened into a broader political dispute between the ruling Congress and opposition BRS.
BRS leaders have alleged that the Ethics Committee proceedings are being used to target opposition legislators. Congress leaders, meanwhile, have objected to Kaushik Reddy’s conduct and remarks inside the House.
The latest exchange is likely to intensify the political confrontation in Telangana, with both sides continuing to trade allegations over Assembly conduct and political defections.
