Karimnagar, [Date] — Deputy Mayor Challa Swarupa Rani Harishankar conducted an urgent inspection of low-lying areas in various divisions today, following heavy rains that have been battering the city since last night. The intense downpour has led to significant water accumulation in the gullies of 44 Division, Sharma Nagar, causing severe inconvenience to residents.Local corporator Mendi Srilata Chandrasekhar, alongside the residents, reported that the CRS drainage system in the area has collapsed, resulting in rainwater flooding into homes. The situation was exacerbated by incomplete RCC drainage works tendered by Smart City, stretching from Sridevi Hospital to Sai Nagar Road.In response to these concerns, Deputy Mayor Harishankar assured residents and the corporator that she would escalate the issue to local legislators Gangula Kamalakar, the District Collector, and the Municipal Commissioner to expedite necessary actions.The Deputy Mayor also urged all residents of Karimnagar city to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary, as the Meteorological Department has forecasted continued heavy rainfall over the next two days.
