The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) has urged residents in low-lying areas to evacuate to safer locations immediately.Municipal Commissioner Dhyanchandra, in a statement, warned that due to the persistent rainfall in the catchment areas, Budameru River is at risk of overflowing, which could lead to severei flooding in nearby regions. The warning comes after continuous downpours were recorded throughout Monday, significantly increasing water levels in the river.Residents in areas such as Gunadala and Singh Nagar, which are prone to flooding, have been asked to leave their homes and seek shelter in designated safe zones. The Commissioner emphasized the urgency of the situation, advising people to act quickly to avoid potential danger.The authorities have already started deploying disaster management teams and setting up relief centers for those affected by the situation.
