*Delhi, September 23, 2024* – Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi today took charge as the eighth Chief Minister of Delhi, making history as the youngest leader to assume the role. Atishi, who has been a key member of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s cabinet, emphasized that she will serve as a caretaker CM. In a symbolic gesture during her swearing-in, she pointed towards an empty chair beside her and declared, “This is the Chief Minister’s seat, and it will remain empty until Kejriwal becomes CM again.” She likened her role to Bharat from the Ramayana, who ruled Ayodhya on behalf of Lord Ram in his absence. However, the move has drawn sharp criticism from opposition parties. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lashed out, accusing Kejriwal of attempting to run the government by proxy. “Will Kejriwal now control the government with a remote control?” the BJP asked, demanding clarity on the CM’s status and Atishi’s authority as a caretaker leader.
