*August 26, 2024*The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has introduced an innovative tuberculosis (TB) diagnostic device priced at just Rs.35. The new device, named the ‘CRISPR Case-Based TB Detection System,’ is designed to detect TB in three distinct stages.This cost-effective solution can test up to 1,500 samples in approximately two and a half hours, offering a rapid and efficient method for TB detection. An ICMR official described the device as a “promising solution” for improving TB diagnosis.The ICMR is now seeking partners for the commercialization of this groundbreaking testing kit, which promises to enhance accessibility and affordability in TB screening.
