₹7,000 Crore DB Stock Scam Leaves Hyderabad Investors Devastated

In a shocking revelation, the ₹7,000 crore DB Stock Brokingl scam, originally unearthed in Assam, has left thousands of investors, including many from Hyderabad, in financial ruin. The alleged fraudulent scheme, operated by DB Stock Broking owner Deepankar Barman, has swindled over 23,000 investors across multiple cities. Hyderabad’s Cyberabad Police Economic Offences Wing has registered multiple complaints, with many more continuing to pour in as affected investors come forward. Victims, ranging from tech professionals to individuals from various sectors, are reporting substantial losses. The scam has prompted police to book Barman and his associates under serious charges, including criminal breach of trust and cheating. The case is also being investigated under the Telangana Protection of Depositors of Financial Establishments Act.Local investors say that payments from the company stopped abruptly in July, raising suspicions of fraud. One software engineer from Puppalguda, Shamai Panchakshar, filed a complaint on September 23, stating he invested ₹11 lakh in DB Stock Broking but received neither his principal nor promised returns. Many others have reported similar experiences. Gantadi Harish, another investor, put in ₹88.50 lakh in December 2022 but only received partial interest payments. Vishwajeet Singh from Hyderabad invested ₹36.80 lakh but has only recovered ₹16.20 lakh. Several others, including P Raju Mahendra Kumar (₹26 lakh) and Mandapati Lakshmi (₹64.50 lakh), are still waiting to reclaim their money.The company lured investors through its branch in KPHB Colony, promising lucrative returns. However, the payments ceased in July, triggering panic among investors.Deepankar Barman, the alleged mastermind of the scam, fled Guwahati on August 21, locking his office before escaping. He is reportedly hiding in Australia, where he also expanded his fraudulent operations. Authorities in both Assam and Telangana are working together to trace Barman’s whereabouts and assess the full scope of the scam.As investigations intensify, police have urged more victims from Telugu states to step forward, in a bid to uncover further details about the fraudulent scheme.The DB Stock Broking scam has left a trail of financial devastation, with thousands of families in Hyderabad and across the country grappling with the fallout of their investments disappearing overnight.
