Hyderabad: In a major anti-narcotics operation, the Telangana EAGLE Force, along with the Rachakonda Narcotics Police Station, seized 237 kg of ganja worth approximately ₹1.18 crore from a secret compartment inside a lorry container on the NH-65 (Vijayawada–Mumbai Highway) near YNR Function Hall. The

contraband was allegedly being transported from Odisha to Maharashtra via Hyderabad. Two accused, Rajesh Kumar and Anil Ranganath Bichare, were arrested during the operation.According to police, Rajesh Kumar, a lorry driver who had shifted to Mumbai

from Bihar, allegedly came into contact with suspected traffickers Suresh Kedari and Dharam Shindey around seven months ago. The duo allegedly financed the purchase of a second-hand lorry

container and recruited him to transport ganja from Odisha to Pune and Mumbai.Police said the accused travelled to Vijayawada,

delivered a consignment of PVC pipes, and later proceeded to Gunupur in Odisha’s Rayagada district, where they allegedly collected 10 gunny bags containing 237 kg of ganja. The narcotics

were concealed in a secret compartment inside the lorry before the vehicle began its journey towards Pune.During questioning, the accused initially gave misleading information about their route.

However, police verified their movements through Call Detail Records (CDRs), which confirmed their visit to Rayagada.

Following sustained interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to concealing the ganja in the vehicle.A case has been

registered at Rachakonda Narcotics Police Station under Crime No. 12/2026, and further investigation is underway to trace the remaining suspects and dismantle the interstate drug trafficking network.Police also stated that the

EAGLE Force has intensified surveillance on ganja smuggling routes from Odisha and has seized nearly 1,500 kg of ganja over the past two months in multiple operations.
