India’s First Hydrogen Train to Be Launched Tomorrow on Jind–Sonipat Route

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch India’s first hydrogen-powered train tomorrow on the Jind–Sonipat route, marking a major milestone in the country’s push towards clean and sustainable transportation. The 10-coach ‘Namo GreenRail‘ is being described as the world’s most powerful hydrogen train. Powered by indigenously developed hydrogen fuel cell technology, the train emits only water vapour, making it an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional diesel-powered trains. The launch is expected to strengthen India’s commitment to green mobility, reduce carbon emissions, and promote the use of clean energy in the railway sector. The project also highlights the government’s focus on developing indigenous technology and modernising Indian Railways with sustainable solutions. With this initiative, India joins a select group of countries that have introduced hydrogen-powered rail services, paving the way for a cleaner and greener future in public transportation.
