Bengaluru, July 20: Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar launched a special Revenue Department campaign to distribute free caste certificates and permanent residence certificates directly to citizens at their doorsteps across the state.
Addressing the event, the Chief Minister said the initiative is aimed at protecting citizens’ voting rights and ensuring easier access to essential government documents. He emphasized that the government is committed to serving all eligible voters, irrespective of political affiliation
Under the programme, the government plans to deliver 4.85 crore digital certificates to households. Assistance centres have been set up at the Hobli level and through Bapuji Seva Kendras to help citizens obtain and download certificates.
The Chief Minister urged voters to cooperate with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) during doorstep visits by submitting the required forms and signatures to safeguard their voting rights. He added that awareness campaigns through WhatsApp groups and simplified online certificate downloads will reduce the need for citizens to visit government offices.
Shivakumar reiterated that protecting the right to vote and ensuring access to government services remains a key commitment of his government.
