Warangal, Telangana: Telangana Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha has announced that the state’s second-largest government cancer hospital will be established in Warangal, strengthening advanced cancer care for the people of North Telangana.
The Minister said the Warangal Regional Cancer Hospital will be upgraded with modern infrastructure and advanced oncology services to benefit patients from the undivided Warangal district and surrounding regions. He also confirmed that the Warangal Super Speciality Hospital, currently under construction, is expected to become operational by the end of this year.
During a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat with Minister Konda Surekha, officials assessed healthcare services and infrastructure in Warangal, Hanamkonda, and Jangaon districts. MLAs, senior Health Department officials, hospital superintendents, and district health officers participated in the meeting.
The Minister reviewed the progress of government medical colleges, district hospitals, community health centres, primary health centres, and area hospitals. He instructed officials to act promptly on issues and suggestions raised by public representatives to further strengthen healthcare services.
Rajanarsimha announced that MGM Hospital, which currently offers 29 specialties, will soon add nine new super-specialty departments. He also directed officials to expedite preparations for these new services.
The government plans to develop the Warangal Super Speciality Hospital as a major healthcare hub for North Telangana, similar to NIMS, with advanced medical equipment, specialist doctors, and adequate staff. LOC approvals will also be sanctioned to ensure smooth operations.

The Minister reiterated that the Telangana Government is committed to providing quality healthcare at the district level, strengthening hospitals with better infrastructure, modern equipment, medicines, diagnostics, and human resources, thereby reducing the burden on major hospitals such as NIMS, Gandhi Hospital, and Osmania Hospital in Hyderabad.
