6,000 AYUSH Doctors Launch Indefinite Strike Across Telangana Over Stipend Demands

Around 6,000 AYUSH house surgeons and postgraduate scholars across Telangana launched an indefinite strike on Tuesday, August 4, demanding a substantial hike in stipends, parity with their allopathic counterparts, and immediate resolution of long-pending financial grievances.

The protest is being led by the Telangana AYUSH House Surgeons and Postgraduates Joint Action Committee (AYUSH HS&PG-JAC). The doctors allege that despite performing duties similar to allopathic house surgeons, they continue to receive significantly lower stipends. They have also demanded the implementation of pending government orders related to stipend revision and equal pay for equal work.

The striking doctors warned that the agitation would continue until the State Government addresses their demands and ensures fair treatment for AYUSH medical professionals. The protest has affected services at several government AYUSH hospitals and medical colleges across Telangana
