Telangana Invites Japanese Companies to Invest, Eyes Stronger India-Japan Workforce Partnership
Hyderabad/Osaka: Telangana has invited Japanese companies to invest in the state, with Energy and Mines Minister Dr G. Vivek Venkataswamy assuring investors of government support, guidance and a business-friendly environment.
The minister made the appeal while attending the India-Japan Workforce Roundtable on “Leveraging Indian Talent” in Osaka. The event was organised by Career Consultz founder and CEO Rohit Rao.
The discussions focused on Japanese investment in Telangana, skilled manpower, employment opportunities and talent mobility between India and Japan.
Telangana Offers Investment Opportunities to Japan
Minister Vivek Venkataswamy said Telangana offers strong opportunities for Japanese companies across several sectors.
He highlighted the state’s talent pool in IT, engineering, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology.
The minister urged Japanese companies to expand their operations in Telangana. He also invited them to establish new industries and projects in the state.
He assured that the Telangana government would support investors with approvals, infrastructure and other requirements.
According to the minister, Japanese companies have shown interest in setting up a new industrial park spread across around 600 acres in Telangana.
He described the interest as a sign of growing confidence among Japanese investors in the state.
Focus on Jobs for Telangana Youth in Japan
Vivek Venkataswamy said Telangana wants to work closely with Japanese companies to create overseas employment opportunities for the state’s youth.
He said Japan’s growing demand for skilled workers can be linked with Telangana’s trained workforce.
The minister stressed that young people from Telangana can adapt quickly to new countries and work environments.
He also highlighted their ability to learn new skills and adjust to different workplace cultures.
The state is establishing around 120 Advanced Technology Centres to provide modern skill training, he said.
These centres are aimed at preparing young people for emerging industry requirements.
Japanese Language Training to Get Greater Focus
The minister said language skills are important for young people seeking employment overseas.
He said TOMCOM is providing skill training along with language education and workplace orientation.
The objective is to prepare Telangana youth for international employment markets.
The state government also wants stronger cooperation with Japanese companies in recruitment, training and employment.
India-Japan Workforce Mobility Gets Major Push
Workforce mobility has emerged as an important pillar of the India-Japan partnership.
Under the India-Japan Human Resource Exchange and Cooperation Action Plan, the two countries have set an aspirational target of exchanging more than 500,000 personnel over five years.
This includes 50,000 skilled personnel and potential talents from India to Japan.
The action plan also covers Japanese language education, skill development, internships and employment pathways.
It specifically seeks to expand opportunities under Japan’s Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) system.
The Indian government has said the SSW framework covers skilled workers who meet the required skill and Japanese-language requirements.
TOMCOM Invites Japanese Firms to Rising Telangana 2026
Energy Department Secretary Harichandana said Telangana is working to provide safe and structured overseas employment opportunities through TOMCOM.
She described TOMCOM as a trusted government partner in international workforce mobility.
Harichandana urged Japanese companies to work with TOMCOM to create more overseas employment opportunities for Telangana youth.
She also invited Japanese companies and business leaders to attend the Rising Telangana 2026 summit scheduled for December.
Japan to Need Skilled Indian Workforce
Chandru Apper, Consul General of India in Osaka-Kobe, said workforce mobility will play an important role in strengthening India-Japan relations.
He referred to the bilateral target of exchanging more than 500,000 personnel over five years.
The plan includes 50,000 skilled personnel and potential talents moving from India to Japan.
Apper assured support for initiatives by Career Consultz and TOMCOM aimed at creating more opportunities for skilled Indian youth in Japan.
India Has Diverse Talent Pool: Rohit Rao
Career Consultz founder and CEO Rohit Rao said India has a large and diverse talent pool.
He said Indian professionals are already recognised globally in IT and engineering.
However, he noted that significant opportunities also exist for skilled and technical workers.
Career Consultz is working to prepare Indian youth for employment in Japan through Japanese language, cultural and job-specific training.
Rao said programmes are also being developed to connect Indian skilled workers with opportunities under Japan’s Specified Skilled Worker programme.
Japan’s Workforce Shortage Creates Opportunities
Japan’s demographic and workforce challenges have increased the importance of international talent mobility.
The India-Japan action plan identifies workforce shortages in Japan as an area where Indian skills can complement Japanese requirements.
The plan also encourages Japanese companies to connect with Indian students and institutions.
It includes initiatives for internships, job matching and Japanese-language education.
Stronger Telangana-Japan Economic Partnership
The Osaka roundtable brought together Japanese business leaders, corporate representatives, universities and government officials.
Telangana Finance Department Principal Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania also participated.
Representatives from the Indian Chamber of Commerce-Japan, Kansai Japan-India Association and other India-Japan organisations attended the meeting.
Officials and representatives from Nagoya City and Osaka Prefecture were also present.
Nagoya Deputy Mayor Yasuo Fukuiage shared views on India-Japan cooperation and skilled workforce partnerships.
The discussions are expected to strengthen Telangana’s efforts to attract Japanese investment while expanding international employment opportunities for its youth.
The broader India-Japan partnership already places emphasis on economic cooperation, mobility, technology, innovation and state-prefecture partnerships.
For Telangana, the emerging partnership offers a dual opportunity: attract Japanese capital into the state and connect its skilled workforce with Japan’s growing talent requirements.
