On Wednesday, the Telangana High Court, led by Justice Vijaysen Reddy, examined a petition filed by BRS MLAs seeking action against legislators who have defected from their party. The BRS requested that the court direct the Speaker to address complaints related to these defections in a timely manner. The High Court has asked the Advocate General to clarify his stance on whether the court should issue an order to the Speaker to resolve the defections issue within a specific timeframe. In response, the Advocate General contended that judicial intervention in such matters is inappropriate. The BRS’s legal team referenced a recent Supreme Court ruling, which mandated that petitions concerning defection be resolved within three months. However, the government lawyer challenged the admissibility of the BRS petition and opposed the court’s proposal.
