August 11, 2024A new vaccine, DengueAll, has recently become available in India, offering hope to combat the deadly dengue fever epidemic that affects thousands annually. To date, over 10,000 Indians have received the vaccine, which aims to curb the spread of the virus.Developed jointly by Panacea Biotech and the U.S. National Institutes of Health, DengueAll utilizes a live attenuated virus to build immunity against all four dengue virus subtypes. Clinical trials are currently underway across 19 sites in Pune, Chennai, and Delhi, involving participants aged 18-60.Initial results from the first phase of trials indicate that DengueAll is both safe and effective, generating a robust immune response. Researchers are optimistic that the vaccine will significantly impact dengue outbreaks, which have already led to 32,000 reported cases in India this year alone.The introduction of DengueAll is seen as a potential breakthrough in controlling the disease and reducing the high number of dengue-related deaths and illnesses in the region.
