*New Delhi, Sept 9, 2024:* The central government has advised all states and union territories to step up vigilance against Mpox (formerly known as monkeypox) by screening and testing all suspected cases within communities. The advisory, issued on Monday, also emphasized the need for hospitals to identify isolation facilities for both suspected and confirmed patients.In light of recent global and domestic outbreaks, the Centre has called for enhanced surveillance and prompt reporting of cases to prevent the spread of the virus. States have been instructed to increase awareness campaigns and ensure that healthcare facilities are prepared to manage Mpox cases, including the availability of testing and treatment resources.The health ministry has urged authorities to remain alert and work closely with the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to monitor the situation and prevent further outbreaks.
