*New Delhi, October 17, 2024* – In a major decision, the Central Government has ordered the withdrawal of National Security Guard (NSG) cover for several VIPs, including prominent political figures. Going forward, the security of these individuals will be handled by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). This decision is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to streamline security operations for high-profile individuals.According to sources from the Ministry of Home Affairs, this change affects several leaders who are currently under the Z+ security category, including former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, veteran BJP leader L.K. Advani, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and BSP leader Mayawati, among others. The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued formal orders to this effect, stating that the CRPF will now take responsibility for the protection of these VIPs. While the Z+ security category remains intact, the deployment of the CRPF ensures that there is no compromise in the level of protection provided to these leaders. CRPF, with its extensive experience in VIP protection, is expected to maintain stringent security arrangements.
