AIMIM Expels Mirza Rahmath Baig with Immediate Effect, Directs Him to Resign as MLC; Video Controversy Sparks Questions

Hyderabad: The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has expelled Telangana Legislative Council member Mirza Rahmath Baig from the party with immediate effect.

According to an announcement issued by AIMIM Joint Secretary S.A. Hussain Anwar, Baig has been directed to immediately submit his resignation to the Chairman of the Telangana Legislative Council.

AIMIM Yet to Officially Reveal the Reason Behind Expulsion

The expulsion has raised several questions, particularly regarding the specific reason or allegations that led to the party’s action.

In its official announcement, AIMIM confirmed Baig’s expulsion and directed him to resign from the Legislative Council. However, the party has not officially disclosed the specific allegations against him or clearly stated why he was removed from the party.

Therefore, at this stage, it would be premature to link the action to any particular allegation without an official clarification.

Unverified Videos Circulating on Social Media

Meanwhile, several purported videos and social media posts are reportedly circulating online, with claims attempting to link Mirza Rahmath Baig to a woman.

However, the authenticity of these videos and the allegations being made through social media posts have not been independently or officially confirmed.

It is therefore important not to treat such social media claims as established facts. Until an official statement is issued by AIMIM, the police authorities or Mirza Rahmath Baig himself, the claims should be considered unverified.

Earlier Cybercrime Complaint Adds Another Dimension

The controversy also comes against the backdrop of reports that Mirza Rahmath Baig had approached the Cybercrime Police over alleged threats and blackmail.

According to reports, a complaint was made regarding alleged threatening calls and demands for money, along with claims that morphed photographs and purported deepfake videos could be circulated.

However, there is currently no official confirmation establishing a direct connection between that complaint, the videos circulating on social media and AIMIM’s decision to expel him.

Asked to Resign from Telangana Legislative Council

AIMIM’s announcement goes beyond party disciplinary action, as Baig has also been instructed to submit his resignation to the Chairman of the Telangana Legislative Council.

Baig was elected to the Telangana Legislative Council from the Hyderabad Local Authorities constituency in 2023.

Official Clarification Awaited

The expulsion of Mirza Rahmath Baig has triggered considerable discussion in Hyderabad’s political circles. While AIMIM has officially confirmed the expulsion, the exact reason behind the action has not been made public in detail.

At the same time, unverified videos and allegations circulating on social media have added to the speculation surrounding the matter.

The complete picture is expected to become clearer once AIMIM, the Cybercrime Police or Mirza Rahmath Baig himself issues further clarification.

Disclaimer: The videos and allegations circulating on social media have not been independently verified. They should not be treated as established facts unless confirmed by an authorised source.
