CJP Puts Forward 7 Demands After Satya Niketan Building Collapse, Seeks Independent Probe and ₹1 Crore Compensation
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced a seven-point set of demands following the deadly collapse of a five-storey paying guest (PG) building in Delhi’s Satya Niketan.

- ₹1 crore compensation for the family of each deceased victim and ₹20 lakh for each injured person.
- Fixing responsibility at the administrative and political level for alleged failures in enforcing building and safety regulations.
The demands come as concerns grow over the safety of student accommodation in Delhi. Areas such as Satya Niketan, Vijay Nagar, Kamla Nagar, Mukherjee Nagar and Old Rajendra Nagar have large numbers of students living in PGs and hostels.
Calls for Wider Safety Audit
The Satya Niketan tragedy has also triggered calls for a city-wide inspection of student housing.
The PIL filed before the Delhi High Court seeks structural audits of PGs, hostels and other student accommodation facilities. It also seeks verification of sanctioned building plans, structural stability, unauthorised construction and fire safety compliance.
The Delhi government has ordered a magisterial inquiry. Police have also registered a case against the building owner, while the MCD has initiated action against officials and allegedly unauthorised structures.
The tragedy has renewed scrutiny of building safety standards in Delhi. It has also raised questions about whether inspections and enforcement mechanisms are strong enough to protect students living in private accommodations.
