*Hyderabad – October 4, 2024*Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has announced a special focus on grain procurement for the ongoing Kharif season, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and efficient process. In a significant move to support farmers, the state will offer a bonus of Rs.500 per quintal for thin paddy, in addition to the Minimum Support Price (MSP).During a video conference held on Thursday with district collectors and superintendents of police (SPs), the Chief Minister instructed officials to guarantee timely payments to farmers who sell their produce at designated purchase centers. Unlike the previous season, when payments were processed within three days, the government now aims to deposit funds directly into farmers’ accounts within 48 hours.Chief Minister Reddy also highlighted the need for transparency, warning officials to take strict action against any attempts to cheat farmers during the procurement process. He emphasized that any corruption or malpractice in the name of “Sannala” would not be tolerated, and those responsible would face severe consequences.Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy and district ministers Sitakka and Tummala Nageswara Rao participated in the meeting, along with key government officials, including Chief Secretary Shantikumari, Civil Supplies MD DS Chauhan, Agriculture Principal Secretary Raghunandan Rao, and Education Principal Secretary Burra Venkatesham.The CM announced that over 7,000 grain procurement centers have been established across the state for the Kharif season. Furthermore, district collectors have been empowered to open additional centers wherever necessary to ensure accessibility for all farmers.This initiative demonstrates the Telangana government’s proactive efforts to support the agricultural sector, streamline grain purchases, and ensure farmers receive fair compensation in a timely manner.
