CM Siddaramaiah Addresses Media on Sri Chamundeshwari Field Development Authorityl Issue

**Mysore, September 3, 2024** — Chief Minister Siddaramaiah spoke to the media near his residence in Mysore today, addressing concerns surrounding the Sri Chamundeshwari Field Development Authority. The authority was created by the government to oversee the development of the Chamundi Hills area, a move that had earlier been challenged in court by Rajamate Pramodadevi Wodeyar, leading to a temporary restraining order. The court lifted the stay order on August 22, allowing the government to proceed with its plans. “Action is being taken as per the court’s decision. The first meeting of the authority has been called today after the court lifted the stay order,” said CM Siddaramaiah. However, the move has sparked controversy. Rajamate Pramodadevi and MP Yaduveer Wodeyar have raised objections, writing to the administrative board secretaries, arguing that holding the meeting is illegal. They assert that the creation of the development authority bypasses traditional governance structures that have been in place for the management of the Chamundi Hills area.“The government has always been involved in appointing the members and president of the governing body that oversees Chamundeshwari Temple,” Siddaramaiah stated, underscoring that the government maintains authority over the administration of the area. The establishment of the Sri Chamundeshwari Field Development Authority has been a point of contention, with some local stakeholders expressing concern over potential changes to the historical and cultural management of Chamundi Hills. The government’s actions are closely watched as they aim to balance development with heritage preservatewaion.
