New Delhi: Delhi is witnessing a sharp rise in H1N1 influenza cases, prompting the government to step up surveillance and hospital preparedness.

Health experts say children, senior citizens and people with weakened immunity can face a higher risk of complications from influenza.
Residents are advised to wash their hands regularly and cover their mouth while coughing or sneezing. Those experiencing persistent or severe symptoms should consult a qualified doctor without delay.
The Indian Council of Medical Research has also clarified that the current rise is linked to seasonal influenza, rather than the emergence of a new H1N1 strain.
Government Says Hospitals Are Prepared
The Delhi government is continuing to monitor the situation and review healthcare arrangements. Officials have been directed to maintain sufficient stocks of medicines and diagnostic supplies.
Authorities are also focusing on early identification of severe cases. The aim is to ensure that patients receive timely treatment while preventing further transmission.
