**Hyderabad, 1st September 2024:** In light of the ongoing heavy rainfall in Hyderabad, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner Amrapali Kata has issued a strong advisory for residents to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. The persistent downpour has caused widespread waterlogging, posing significant dangers, especially in flood-prone areas.Commissioner Kata highlighted the critical situation around the Musi River, which is currently experiencing a significant flow at the Chaderghat bridge due to the heavy rains. “It is crucial that all citizens remain indoors for their safety,” she stated, emphasizing that children and the elderly should refrain from walking or driving through flooded areas. The commissioner also urged residents to stay vigilant and avoid opening manholes, which can be extremely dangerous during flooding. Any open manholes should be reported immediately to the GHMC Control Room.The GHMC has ramped up its response efforts, with Zonal Commissioners and teams actively working to control water levels in affected areas, including Rajiv Nagar and Safdar Nagar in Kukatpally.
