*Kolkata: September 14, 2024*A tense standoff unfolded as a delegation of junior doctors gathered at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s residence, demanding the live streaming of their scheduled meeting. The doctors, who had been standing in the rain for over two hours, refused to enter the meeting without this provision.Speaking with the delegation from the doorway of her residence, Chief Minister Banerjee expressed her willingness to meet them but emphasized that live streaming could not be conducted due to an ongoing case in the Supreme Court. “I assure you that whatever recording is done will be given to you later,” she said, appealing to the doctors to proceed with the meeting.Banerjee also offered to provide the minutes of the meeting and urged the delegation to enter, saying, “If you don’t want to attend, then why did you come? Why are you insulting like this? This is not the first time.”The confrontation highlighted the growing discontent among junior doctors over the state government’s handling of their demands. The meeting, seen as crucial for addressing their concerns, has yet to commence as the doctors remain adamant about live streaming.
