Kaushambi Police Encounter: ₹50,000 Reward Accused Shakeel Ahmed Arrested
Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh: Police arrested wanted accused Shakeel Ahmed after an alleged encounter in Kaushambi on September 4, 2026.
According to CO Saurabh Samant, police received information that Shakeel was trying to leave the area. He was wanted in Case No. 219/26 registered at Pipri Police Station.
A reward of ₹50,000 had been announced for information leading to his arrest.
Following the tip-off, a police team and the Special Operations Group (SOG) launched a blockade and search operation.
Police said they spotted a suspicious man approaching on a motorcycle. Officers attempted to stop him.
According to the police account, the suspect allegedly opened fire at the team. Police then returned fire in self-defence.
The accused sustained a gunshot injury to his left leg during the exchange. He was subsequently taken to the district hospital.
Officials said his condition was stable.
Police also reported recovering a motorcycle and firearm-related evidence from the accused. The recovered items included a country-made pistol, one live cartridge and two spent shell casings, according to the police statement.
Shakeel is reportedly linked to the recent Kaushambi firecracker factory blast case. The incident had triggered a major police investigation and a search for those named in the case.
Reports said Shakeel was among the remaining wanted accused after other suspects were arrested. His arrest marks another significant development in the investigation.
Further legal proceedings are underway, police said.
