KTR Accuses Telangana Government of Betraying Singareni Workers Over Profit-Share Promise

*Hyderabad, September 22, 2024* – BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao has strongly criticized the Telangana government, accusing it of betraying the workers of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) by failing to deliver on its promise of profit-sharing. Speaking in Hyderabad, KTR expressed disappointment over the government’s recent announcement regarding profit-sharing for the workers.KTR highlighted that the government had initially promised to deliver 33% of profits to the workers. However, the reality, he claimed, was far from this. “The government has announced only 16.9% of the profit share, which translates to ₹1.9 lakh per worker, instead of the promised 33%, which would amount to ₹3.7 lakh per worker,” he said.Calling the move a “betrayal and subterfuge,” KTR demanded clarity from Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on the issue. He urged the government to come forward and explain to the workers whether they intend to honor the full 33% promise or confine themselves to 16.9%.The workers of Singareni, one of Telangana’s major public sector units, have been anxiously awaiting clarity on the profit-sharing scheme, which has become a major political issue. KTR’s statement reflects the growing concerns about the government’s handling of the matter.
