KTR Extends Support to Polytechnic Students Protesting GO 97 in Secunderabad

Hyderabad: BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) has extended his support to polytechnic students protesting against Government Order (GO) No. 97 in Telangana.

KTR reportedly spoke to the protesting students by phone at Sangeet Junction in Secunderabad. He assured the students that he would stand by them and support their fight.

The BRS leader also promised to continue raising the issue until the Congress government withdraws GO 97. His assurance comes amid growing student opposition to the order.

Polytechnic students have been protesting over concerns surrounding the future of diploma education in Telangana. Their demands include clarity over the existing three-year diploma structure and further education opportunities.

Recent reports said students have also raised concerns about the proposed changes involving the state’s polytechnic education system. They have sought continuation under the State Board of Technical Education and Training (SBTET).

The controversy has intensified in recent weeks. Polytechnic students have held demonstrations at several locations across Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana.

Earlier protests were also reported in Secunderabad and other areas. Students have demanded that the government reconsider the provisions of GO 97.

Meanwhile, police detained several protesting students at Sangeet Junction in Secunderabad. The arrests took place as the students were holding a demonstration against the government order.

The police action has added another point of contention to the ongoing protest. Student groups continue to press for talks with the government and withdrawal of GO 97.

The issue has also drawn criticism from opposition leaders. Former Telangana minister T. Harish Rao recently demanded the immediate withdrawal of GO 97. He opposed the proposed merger of 59 government polytechnic colleges with Young India Skill University.

With protests continuing, the government now faces growing pressure to address the concerns of polytechnic students. The next steps could determine the future direction of the state’s diploma education system.
