The state of Andhra Pradesh is witnessing a flood of applications for liquor shop licenses, prompting the government to extend the deadline for submissions. Due to the overwhelming response, the deadline has now been extended to October 11, 2024. As of 9 a.m. yesterday, the government had received 41,348 applications, generating a substantial revenue of Rs 826.96 crore from application fees. This high volume of applications reflects significant interest from potential licensees under the state’s revised liquor policy.The allotment of liquor shop licenses will be conducted through a lottery draw scheduled for October 14, 2024. Successful applicants will be able to commence operations from October 16, when the new liquor policy comes into effect.This policy aims to regulate the liquor trade in the state while ensuring transparency and fairness in the allocation of licenses. With the extended deadline, the government expects even more applications to pour in before the lottery draw, highlighting the enthusiasm surrounding this lucrative business opportunity.
