Muslim Gym Trainer Dies After Drowning in Pond Amid Beef Smuggling Allegations in Uttarakhand

In a recent incident in Roorkee’s Madhavpur area, a Muslim gym trainer named Waseem has died under controversial circumstances after allegedly drowning in a pond. The death occurred amidst accusations of beef smuggling, which has led to significant tension and conflicting reports.According to the Uttarakhand Police’s Gau Sanrakshan Squad, Waseem reportedly jumped into the pond while attempting to evade arrest. The police stated that they had been alerted to beef smuggling activities and had stopped a suspicious scooter rider in the Madhopur village area. When the rider fled, Waseem allegedly jumped into the pond and drowned.However, local villagers offer a starkly different account. They allege that the police, after interrogating Waseem, violently assaulted him and subsequently threw him into the pond. The villagers claim that when they arrived at the scene, they were threatened by the police, who were armed and ordered them to leave the area.In response to the incident, the police have filed multiple charges against the villagers, including rioting and various sections under the Uttarakhand Cow Protection Act, 2007. Additionally, a case has been registered against Alauddin and around 100-150 unidentified individuals.The incident has sparked widespread outrage and demands for accountability from the authorities. The police have yet to address the discrepancies between their account and the villagers’ allegations.
