Shiv Sena (UBT) Leader Raises Concerns Over PM Modi’s Visit to CJI Chandrachud During Ganpati Festival

**Mumbai:** In a recent statement, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut has expressed concerns regarding the impartiality of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the CJI’s residence for Ganpati Poojan. Raut highlighted that while it is customary for people to visit each other’s homes during festivals, the high-profile interaction between the PM and the CJI has raised questions about potential biases in the judiciary.Raut noted that the Shiv Sena (UBT) is currently involved in a legal dispute with the central government, and the ongoing case is being heard before CJI Chandrachud. He voiced apprehensions that the close association between Modi and Chandrachud might influence the fairness of the proceedings. “If a custodian of the Constitution meets politicians, it can create doubt in the minds of people,” Raut said. He further questioned whether CJI Chandrachud would be able to deliver impartial justice given his apparent bond with the Prime Minister. The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader also criticized the handling of their case, alleging that the central government is heavily involved and that they have been receiving repeated dates without substantial progress. Raut accused the central government of intervening in Maharashtra’s political landscape to sustain an “illegal government” and expressed concern that this situation is undermining the judicial process. As the Ganpati festival continues, these comments have sparked a debate on the intersection of politics and judiciary, with calls for clarity and transparency in how such high-profile interactions are managed to maintain public trust in the legal system.
