*Hyderabad, September 20:* Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has announced that the Srisailam Left Canal (SLBC) Tunnel will be completed within the next 20 months. During a visit to the SLBC project site, Deputy CM Vikramarka, along with Council Chairman Guttasukhender Reddy and Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy and Komati Reddy Venkata Reddy, reviewed the progress of the tunnel’s construction in the presence of district public representatives, MLAs, and officials.The Deputy CM emphasized the importance of completing the SLBC on a war footing, revealing that the state government will allocate monthly funds to ensure uninterrupted progress. “If the tunnel is dug at the rate of 400 meters per month, approximately ₹14 crore will be required monthly. The necessary funds will be released accordingly,” he said.The project timeline has been mapped out, with a two-year calendar set for the completion of the SLBC. The Deputy CM confirmed that by adhering to this schedule and maintaining continuous work each month, the SLBC will be operational in 20 months. This would bring significant benefits to the combined districts of Nalgonda and Nagar Kurnool, transforming the region with increased irrigation potential.Officials have been directed to ensure that the work progresses without delays, and monthly reviews will be conducted to monitor the project’s development. Once completed, the SLBC tunnel is expected to provide a much-needed boost to agriculture, enhancing irrigation and greening the region.
