*Kolkata, August 22* — The Supreme Court has issued a strong directive for doctors in Kolkata to return to work immediately following a CBI report on the murder of a local doctor. The court expressed frustration with the Bengal Police’s handling of the case, highlighting serious concerns raised by the CBI investigation.The CBI’s report revealed attempts to cover up the rape and murder case, with allegations that the victim’s parents were misled and the FIR was only filed after the victim’s cremation. The report also noted the destruction of evidence at the crime scene.In response to the ongoing protests by doctors, the Supreme Court emphasized the critical need for medical professionals to resume their duties to ensure that public health services are not disrupted. Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud assured the protesting doctors that no punitive action would be taken against them upon their return to work, stressing that the welfare of the poor should not be compromised due to the strike.
