Telangana to Add 31 New FM Radio Stations

In a significant boost to media infrastructure, Telangana is set to welcome 31 new FM radio stations across 10 cities and towns. This development follows a recent central government decision to expand FM radio services nationwide, with 730 stations approved for 234 cities. The new FM stations will be introduced in several growing urban areas and business centers in Telangana, including Adilabad, Kothagudem, Karimnagar, Khammam, Mahbubnagar, Mancherial, Nalgonda, Ramagundam, Suryapet, and Nizamabad. Notably, Adilabad and Kothagudem will each receive three FM channels, designated under the Aspirational Districts category.Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav highlighted that this expansion aims to promote regional languages and generate employment opportunities, particularly in areas previously underserved by media infrastructure. The central government’s initiative also emphasizes providing FM services in Maoist-affected regions, with Telangana’s developing cities benefiting from this broader effort.
