Tragic Loss in Telangana Floods: Young Scientist Found Dead

**Telangana, September 1, 2024** — In a heartbreaking incident linked to severe overnight rains, Dr. Nunavath Ashwini, a promising young scientist affiliated with the ICAR – National Institute of Biotic Stress Management’s School of Crop Resistance System Research in Raipur, has been found dead after being swept away by floodwaters in Telangana.Dr. Ashwini, along with her father, Nunawat Motilal, was traveling from their home in Gangaram Thanda, Singareni Mandal, Khammam district, to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad. Their journey took a tragic turn when their vehicle was engulfed by the overflowing Akeruvagu stream at Purushothamaiahgudem in Maripeda mandal. The stream had breached a bridge, sending their car into the swift currents.In a desperate phone call, Ashwini and her father reported that the water level inside the car had risen to their necks. After that, communication was lost, leaving their family and friends in a state of deep concern.On Sunday, emergency responders discovered Dr. Ashwini’s body near the Akeruvagu Bridge. Search and rescue teams are still working diligently to locate her father, Motilal, who remains missing.The tragedy underscores the severe impact of the recent floods in the region, with ongoing efforts aimed at addressing the crisis and supporting affected families.
