Hyderabad, August 4: In a major step towards strengthening power infrastructure, TGS Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) has upgraded the power transformer at the 33/11 KV Vanasthalipuram Substation in Saroornagar Circle from 8 MVA to 12.5 MVA.
The upgraded transformer was successfully commissioned under the guidance of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister & Energy Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, and the TGSPDCL management as part of the state’s ongoing efforts to enhance electricity infrastructure and meet rising power demand.
The work was completed under the supervision of the Superintending Engineer (Operation), Saroornagar Circle, with coordinated efforts from Operation, Lines, TRE & Protection wings.
The capacity enhancement is expected to directly benefit around 22,000 electricity consumers in Self Finance Colony, Balaji Nagar, ZP Road, Visvesvaraya Colony, and surrounding localities.
Officials said the new 12.5 MVA transformer will improve load distribution, reduce voltage fluctuations during peak hours, minimize power interruptions, and ensure a more reliable electricity supply while also catering to future demand growth.
TGSPDCL reiterated its commitment to strengthening the power distribution network across Telangana through substation upgrades, modernization works, and expansion of electricity infrastructure.
