Hyderabad Police Warn Public Against Fake Doctors After 12 Arrests
Hyderabad, August 27, 2026: Hyderabad City Police have urged residents to stay alert against unqualified people posing as doctors.
The warning comes after a special operation uncovered 12 alleged fake doctors operating unauthorised clinics across the city. Police said action has been initiated against them.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, appealed to people not to fall into the trap of fake medical practitioners.
According to the police, some accused had no valid medical qualifications. Yet, they allegedly treated patients as if they were qualified doctors.
The suspects reportedly administered injections and intravenous saline. They also prescribed medicines without the required qualifications.
Police said some of the clinics were operating without proper registration. Medical equipment, medicines, syringes, saline bottles and other items were seized during the raids.
Fake Doctors Can Put Lives at Risk
Hyderabad Police cautioned that unqualified treatment can have serious consequences.
Patients may be given antibiotics, steroids or medicines for blood pressure and diabetes without proper assessment. Unnecessary injections and IV fluids can also expose patients to additional risks.
The police stressed that people should verify a doctor’s credentials before starting treatment.
How to Check Whether a Doctor Is Genuine
Patients should check whether the clinic displays the official registration certificate issued by the concerned health authorities.
The doctor’s name and qualifications should also be displayed clearly.
For medical practitioners registered with the Telangana State Medical Council, people can verify registration details through the council’s online services. The TSMC provides registration-related services and maintains information for registered practitioners.
If a doctor’s credentials cannot be verified, patients should avoid taking treatment from that person.
Take a Second Opinion
Police have also advised patients to seek a second opinion when they have doubts about a diagnosis or treatment.
This is especially important when a clinic insists on repeated injections or IV drips without clearly explaining the medical reason.
People should also be cautious when staff refuse to provide information about the doctor’s qualifications.
Report Suspected Fake Doctors
Hyderabad Police urged citizens to report information about suspected fake doctors.
People can contact Dial 112 or approach their nearest police station.
The police said action against unauthorised medical practitioners will continue. The appeal is aimed at preventing innocent patients from falling victim to unsafe medical practices.
The latest operation follows multiple raids by the Hyderabad Task Force in Jubilee Hills, Secunderabad and other parts of the city. Police have said investigations into the cases are continuing.
