Cattle Trader Killed, Son Injured in Firing in Bihar’s Vaishali
Vaishali, Bihar: A 45-year-old cattle trader was killed and his 20-year-old son injured after two armed assailants allegedly opened fire at them in Bihar’s Vaishali district on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident took place near the Taraura Canal on Patepur Road. The area falls under the Mahua police station limits.
The father-son duo was returning home after selling cattle at a local market. According to preliminary police information, they were carrying the day’s earnings with them.
Police said the attackers allegedly tried to snatch their cash-filled bag. The father and son reportedly resisted the robbery attempt.
The assailants then allegedly opened fire before fleeing from the spot with the bag.
The deceased was identified as Laxman Rai, a resident of Hasanpur village. His son, Mithlesh Kumar, sustained a gunshot injury and was taken to hospital.
Laxman suffered a fatal injury and died at the scene. Mithlesh was initially treated at Mahua Sub-Divisional Hospital.
He was later referred to Patna for further treatment, according to the report.
Police Launch Investigation
Vaishali Superintendent of Police Shubhank Mishra visited the scene following the incident. He said several rounds were fired during the attack.
Police have started questioning witnesses and examining evidence collected from the area. A forensic team was also called to assist with the investigation.
Authorities have reportedly placed blockades along possible escape routes. Raids are underway to locate the suspects.
Investigators are also examining CCTV footage from the area. The footage could help establish the sequence of events and identify those involved.
Locals Protest After Shooting
