Telangana Congress Govt Failed to Fulfil Election Promises, Says BJP Leader Mannmeet Singh
Hyderabad: BJP leader Mannmeet Singh has criticised the Telangana Congress government over what he described as unfulfilled election promises.
Singh alleged that several commitments made before the 2023 Assembly elections are yet to be fully implemented.
He specifically pointed to promises concerning young women and marriage assistance.
According to Singh, the Congress had promised electric scooters for eligible young women pursuing higher education. He also alleged that the government had promised one tola of gold for women at the time of marriage.
The Congress had included these commitments in its 2023 election manifesto, known as Abhaya Hastham.
The manifesto stated that electric scooters would be provided to young women above 18 years who were pursuing education. It also proposed an Indiramma gift of ₹1 lakh and 10 grams of gold for eligible Hindu brides from poor families.
The scooter promise was part of the Congress’s wider commitments aimed at women’s empowerment. The party also promised financial assistance under the Mahalakshmi programme, along with other welfare measures.
Some of the Congress’s major women’s promises have since seen varying levels of implementation. Free travel for women on Telangana State Road Transport Corporation buses became one of the government’s prominent initiatives.
The government also introduced subsidised LPG cylinders and free electricity for eligible households as part of its broader welfare agenda. However, several other promises have continued to face questions over implementation.
