New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain was produced before the Rouse Avenue Court in connection with an alleged corruption case linked to the Delhi Jal Board (DJB).
Jain was arrested by the Delhi Government’s Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) in August 2026. The case concerns alleged irregularities in the tendering process for sewage treatment plant projects.
According to the ACB, the tender process allegedly included restrictive technical conditions. Investigators have claimed that these conditions favoured a particular technology provider and limited competition.
The agency has also alleged that a proposed pilot study was not conducted. It further claimed that changes were made to technical specifications during the tender process.
Jain has denied the allegations. He has maintained that, as a minister, he relied on engineers and government officials for technical decisions related to the projects.
The Rouse Avenue Court had earlier sent Jain and several other accused to judicial custody. The court later reserved its order on Jain’s bail plea for September 3.
The case has also brought renewed attention to earlier investigations involving Jain. The Enforcement Directorate has separately pursued a money-laundering case connected to alleged disproportionate assets.
Jain’s legal team has disputed the allegations, while investigators continue to pursue the corruption case. The allegations remain subject to judicial proceedings, and Jain has not been convicted in the matter.
