Konda Surekha Alleges Political Targeting After Cabinet Exit, Accuses Revanth Reddy of ‘Blackmail’

Hyderabad: Former Telangana minister Konda Surekha has made serious allegations against Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy following her removal from the state Cabinet.

Surekha alleged that Revanth Reddy had warned that he would leave if she was not removed from the Cabinet.

According to Surekha, this pressure led to her removal. She claimed that the Congress high command itself had no initial intention of removing her.

She also accused several political leaders of deliberately targeting her.

Surekha named Revanth Reddy’s brothers, minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Vem Narender Reddy and some former Telugu Desam Party leaders in her allegations.

The former minister further claimed that a letter was sent to the Governor through the Chief Secretary without consulting her.

She questioned the procedure followed in recommending her removal.

“There was not even a letterhead or a signature,” Surekha alleged while questioning the authenticity and process behind the communication.

She also asked why action was taken against her when similar action had allegedly not been taken against others.

Surekha’s remarks come amid growing tensions within the Telangana Congress.

The controversy had intensified after remarks made by her daughter, Konda Sushmitha Patel, against Revanth Reddy and his family.

The Chief Minister’s Office said Revanth Reddy decided to drop Surekha from the Council of Ministers with immediate effect. A formal recommendation was sent to the Governor for the necessary action.

Reports said the decision followed consultations with senior Congress leadership.

The TPCC disciplinary committee had also recommended action amid the ongoing dispute within the party.
