Amaravati, August 7 — Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar has taken decisive action to address the smuggling of ration rice in Andhra Pradesh. The minister’s recent orders include the establishment of additional check posts along the Kakinada-Mumbai route to curb the illegal transportation of ration rice.The crackdown follows revelations that large quantities of ration rice, intended for government distribution, have been illicitly transported from Kakinada Port to other countries. Authorities discovered a substantial stockpile of illegally stored ration rice in Kakinada’s godowns.In response to these findings, check posts managed by eight different departments have been set up at Kakinada Port. Despite these measures, officials identified six lorries transporting ration rice on a single day. To enhance surveillance, Minister Manohar has ordered the creation of another check post at Kakinada Port PS and instructed officials to scrutinize all lorries en route to the port.Minister Manohar has recently highlighted the rampant ration mafia operating in Kakinada, emphasizing the need for stringent measures to combat the illegal trade. The new check posts are part of a broader effort to ensure the integrity of the state’s ration distribution system.
