Center Orders UIDAI to Unblock Biometrics for Assam Residents

In a pivotal move concerning Aadhaar enrollment, the Union Home Ministry has directed the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to unblock biometric data for 9,35,682 residents of Assam. This decision, communicated through the Registrar General of India, aims to facilitate the Aadhaar registration process for these individuals.The biometric data of these citizens was previously blocked in 2019 as part of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) update. The recent order by the central government is set to ease the Aadhaar enrollment for residents whose biometrics were restricted during the NRC process.
