**Amaravati, September 19, 2024** – The Andhra Pradesh government has renamed the ‘YSR Law Nestham’ scheme to ‘Nyaya Mitra’ as part of its ongoing initiative to change the names of schemes introduced by the previous government. The Law Secretary (FAC), V. Sunita, issued the official order on Wednesday, announcing the name change. The guidelines for the newly renamed Nyaya Mitra scheme will be released soon. The scheme, now known as Nyaya Mitra, will continue to provide stipends to junior lawyers in the state, a key feature of the original YSR Law Nestham program. This renaming follows a pattern set by the current coalition government, which has been systematically renaming schemes introduced under the rule of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSR Congress Party (YCP) government.Since coming to power, the coalition government has already renamed several other schemes. The Jagananna Vidyakanuka scheme is now called the Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Vidyarthi Mitra, and the Jagananna Vidya Deevena has been renamed as the Post Matric Scholarship for Accommodation and Blessing Scheme. Additionally, the Jagananna Gorumudda has become the Dokka Seethamma Mid-Day Meal Scheme, and the YSR Kalyanamastu is now called Chandranna Pelli Kanuka.Other notable renamings include the Jagananna Animuthyalu scheme, now known as the Abdul Kalam Pratibha Award, and the YSR Vidya Dorum, which has been renamed NTR Vidyavasati. The Jagan Civil Services Incentive has also been rebranded as the Civil Services Examination Incentive, while the Jagananna Permanent Land Rights – Land Protection Scheme has been renamed the AP Re-Survey Project. The current government’s decision to rename various schemes reflects its broader efforts to distinguish its initiatives from those of the previous administration while continuing to provide support through these programs.
